I found the trip to the Midwest USA a most enlightening experience having never looked at farming
over there before. The trip gave a huge insight into the extremes of the US dairy industry from
intensive high input herds to grazing systems. The introductory talk about the US dairy industry was
probably one of the most important aspects of the trip and helped expand my understanding of global
dairying.
The whole experience and meeting some locals opened my eyes to what a magnificent opportunity exists for those brave enough to grasp it. I would recommend the trip to any serious dairy farmer and thinker as it will give new insight into how we need to plan our businesses in this part of the world. Travelling with like-minded people enhanced the whole experience and made it most enjoyable.” Ian Browne (UK)"I found the trip to Missouri in 2015 to be very insightful. It was my first taste of farming in the US and while the main focus of the trip was on grassland farms in Missouri, we also visited a confinement dairy, a beef rancher and a contract rearer. It was a great chance to network and get to know other people and I learned a lot about US dairying. Having Michael Murphy and other members of the Positive Farmers on the bus and on the tour meant that there was always lots of information, discussion and good fun." Aidan Brennan IFJ
