As part of the Partners Program, (like to join the social occasion of the Positive Farmers but not attend the Conference) we have highlighted a variety of
award winning places of interests in Cork and beyond.
Tours are also available Cork City Tours and if you’d prefer to explore Cork in your own time, many of Cork’s attractions are within a short distance.
Cork-Guide.ie has a wealth of information on what to do, including shopping, and visiting the local attractions.
These attractions will pass the time away until the Conference Networking Dinner held on Wednesday 16th at 7:30pm.
This imposing former prison is well worth a
visit, if only to get a sense of how awful life
was for prisoners a century ago. An audio
tour (€2 extra) guides you around the
restored cells, which feature models of
suffering prisoners and sadistic-looking
guards. Take a bus to UCC – from there walk
north along Mardyke Walk, cross the river
and follow the signs uphill (10 minutes).
Cork City Gaol
It could just as easily be called the Victorian
Market for its ornate vaulted ceilings and
columns, but the English Market is a true
gem, no matter what you name it. Scores of
vendors set up colourful and photogenic
displays of the region's very best local
produce, including meat, fish, fruit, cheeses
and takeaway food.
English Market
Built nearly six hundred years ago by one
of Ireland's greatest chieftains, Cormac
McCarthy. Over the last few hundred years,
millions have flocked to Blarney making it
a world landmark and one of Ireland's
greatest treasures.
The Blarney Stone, (the legendary Stone of
Eloquence), found at the top of the tower.
